Rooted in rich American history, Chambersburg is perhaps best known as the only Northern town burned by the Confederacy during the Civil War. Today, it thrives as a regional hub with a revitalized downtown, award-winning events and a strong commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship. Just a few miles south, Greencastle offers small-town charm with big possibilities – famous for its historic town square, the long-standing Old Home Week celebration, Heritage Christmas festivities and a welcoming spirit that’s perfect for families and businesses alike.

Our area is a magnet for opportunity. Strategically located along I-81 and U.S. Route 11, we are within a day’s drive of 60 percent of the U.S. population. Founded in 1783 by John Allison, Greencastle was named after his ancestral home in Scotland and has grown into a vibrant community known for its strong sense of tradition and pride.
Outdoor enthusiasts will love Antrim Township Park, offering trails, athletic fields and peaceful green spaces. Families flock to Jerome King Playground, a cherished gathering place, while Martin’s Mill Covered Bridge – one of the oldest in the region – offers a picture-perfect spot for a stroll or picnic.

Downtown Chambersburg is a walkable, welcoming hub where history, culture, and community spirit unite. Take a self-guided historic walking tour to explore architectural gems and landmarks that tell the story of a town famously burned during the Civil War.
